Duke of Edinburgh Award
The Duke of Edinburgh Award has always been well respected at County. It provides an opportunity for students to be rewarded for learning and making progress outside of the curriculum, from volunteering with the elderly, taking up a new sport, learning an instrument or improving their culinary skills. Students can go outside of their comfort zone and take up something completely new and make fresh connections and learn new skills.
The award has 3 levels, we offer Bronze to Year 9, Silver to Year 10 and Gold to Year 12 - each level is a step up and is more challenging to achieve.
This year we have around 200 students starting their award and I look forward to seeing how many students achieve their goal. There is an expedition element to the award, with Bronze students staying local, Silver heading to the Peaks and Exmoor, and Gold travelling to the Lake District and Snowdonia. It promises to be a great year.
