Passing of David Smith, former Headteacher

It is with great sadness that Head of School, Steve Smith, writes to inform you all that David Smith, former Headteacher of Guildford County School, sadly passed away this morning.
A strong and dedicated leader, from whom many learnt their craft, David served the school and the Guildford community for a great many years and moved the school forward as a comprehensive from its former days as a girls’ grammar.
Following his retirement, David and his wife remained in Guildford and he will be much missed by many, including a number of colleagues still serving at County who worked alongside David during his time at the school.
We offer our most sincere condolences to David’s family at this difficult time. His wife and daughters have decided to raise some money for a local charity in his name. Eikon, a local Surrey charity supporting vulnerable young people, was something that David was very passionate about.
